Abstract: Wang Yangming, a famous thinker in the Ming Dynasty, not only studied Confucianism, but also had in-depth research on classical military science including “Shuzi’s Soldier Book”. He is good at using military theory to combat practice, and has good use in fighting rebellion, becoming the best focus for “integration of knowledge and action”. As for war, he advocated “seeking good” and “past troubles”; as for practical use, he advocated “integration of military and civilians”; as for war strategy, he valued the combination of strange and correct. Because of this, the characteristics of the convergence of military scholars have concentrated manifestations in him.

Wang Yangming once called himself “not tolerate military brigade” 1 and “will not be the leader of his life”, but this is obviously just a self-talk. The fact is that his building in military science is not inferior to the Confucian field. “History of Ming Dynasty” believes that “in the end of the Ming Dynasty, civil officials used military command and rule, and there was no such thing as a benevolent person.”2. 1. “Seeking good” and “past troubles”: the inheritance of traditional warfare

It is not difficult to see from the historical records that Wang Yangming had deeply studied modern military classics, and had more inheritance of traditional warfare such as “seeking good” and “past troubles”.

 

Wang Yangming’s experience in learning modern military scriptures is concentrated in “Review of the Seven Martial Arts Books”. In this book, Wang Shouren made unreasonable comments on “Shuzi” and “Wuzi” and other soldiers, and he can especially see his ability to study classical military strategies. Wang Yangming also paid attention to comparative analysis of several famous military classics.
